Tap Trial (タップダンス^?, Tappu Dansu) is the 29th game in Rhythm Tengoku, the 4th Extra Game in Rhythm Heaven Fever unlockable with 44 Medals, and the 58th game in Rhythm Heaven Megamix. The game is about a girl who is learning to tap dance like the Monkeys. A sequel is unlocked later on in Rhythm Tengoku and Rhythm Heaven Megamix called Tap Trial 2.

The girl (the character played in this game) dances simultaneously with the two monkeys and must follow their signals. If the monkeys let out a small cry, it signals to tap once right afterwards. If they make two noises, then it signals to tap twice quickly afterwards. If the monkey yells as all the characters raise their arms, it signals to tap three times quickly afterwards. If the monkey yelps, it signals to tap the moment the girl and monkeys have landed a jump.

• Barely: A quick "dink" sound is heard. A barely counts as a hit.

Tap Trial also appears in the 2P mode of Rhythm Tengoku (Arcade) where it is referred to as Tap Trial 2P (タップダンス 2P^?, Tappu Dansu 2P). It plays the same as the 1P version, but there are two girls and only one monkey.

Trivia

• This game has the most variations and graphical changes out of all the games in Rhythm Tengoku, having five different variations in it's first appearance.
  • Rhythm Heaven Megamix introduces two more variants to Tap Trial, which brings the total of variations to 7.
  • In terms of variations, Shoot-'Em-Up beats it, but by graphical changes in general, this game beats it by one.
• There is a small difference between versions -- in the GBA version, the girl and the monkeys do a jump tap, followed by a head-bobbing cue which resets their animation. They stay in the pose in the other versions.
• The monkeys are noticeably smaller in the Fever and Megamix versions, most likely to make them more consistent with the other monkeys in those games.
• This game appears in the "Wario...Where?" Challenge Train where the girl is replaced by Ashley and her apprentice Red can be seen riding the Giraffe.
