Double Date (Wデート W Deto?) is the 4th minigame in Rhythm Heaven Fever and the 98th minigame in Rhythm Heaven Megamix. The playable character, a boy (Kouhai in Japanese), is on a date with his crush (Senpai in Japanese). He tries to kick away the sports balls that bounce toward them so the balls don't disturb the weasels near them nor distract their date. A sequel is unlocked later on called Double Date 2.

Gameplay

Double Date 3DS Gameplay
There are three types of balls that bounce toward the group. The most common one that appears is the soccer ball. it bounces once. The next ball is the basketball. It will skid once and then bounce. This changes the rhythm and requires for him to kick slightly quicker. The last ball appears least frequently, and is the American football. It bounces three times before it reaches the boy. Because of this it moves at a slower rhythm than the others.

Controls

Button Mode

  • A: Kick

Simple Tap Mode

  • Tap: Kick

Timing Notes

  • Hit: A kick sound is heard. The weasels smile and cheer the boy. For American footballs and off-beat soccer balls, the weasels jump for joy, surprising the girl a bit.
  • Barely: A "doink" sound is heard. The boy cringes in pain as if he pulled his leg muscle. The weasels look back in surprise, and the ball falls to the side. A barely counts as a miss.
  • Miss:The girl gives a worried look. The weasels squeak and duck under the hole to avoid the missed sport ball. A missed American football would bruise the orange weasel's chin temporarily. Either way, the weasels pop back up with annoyed faces.

Trivia

  • The weasel couple would appear later in Rhythm Heaven Fever in Love Rap, sitting on the couch at the end of that game.
  • In Cheer Readers, the boy who appears in the epilogue screens resembles the boy from this game.
  • The Japanese name uses a popular "pun" that the letter W means "double".
  • In Megamix, there is more grass added near the hole where the weasels sit on.
  • According to debug notes found in the files of Rhythm Heaven Megamix, this game alongside Fork Lifter, Flock Step, Cheer Readers, Board Meeting and Packing Pests would have its story mode variant added in that game but got cut for unknown reasons.
  • The butterflies from the title card can be seen in this game when they are passing by if the player keeps kicking out the balls correctly near the end. However, if the player misses one or two balls, the butterflies will fly away when a ball comes to the weasels. They also appear in its sequel.
